Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
The short version: we only use your menu photos to translate them (and, when a translation fails or looks wrong, so our small team can see what went wrong and fix it), we delete them after 30 days unless you share the result, we never sell your information, and we never use your photos to train AI. The dish names we read and their translations are kept, with nothing that links them to you, to make MenuJet better.
Who we are
MenuJet (menujet.com) is operated by 360 DEV LLC, a Michigan limited liability company, and run as a small, independent project based in Taipei, Taiwan. 360 DEV LLC is responsible for your information under this policy. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean 360 DEV LLC in connection with operating MenuJet, and the people who run MenuJet for it. This explains what happens to your information when you use the site. It follows Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act, and we have tried to keep it clear for visitors from anywhere.
What we collect
- Menu photos you upload, and the menu text and translations we create from them. That’s the whole point of MenuJet.
- A random device code in a cookie (
mj_did), so we can give each device its 2 free menus and stop abuse. - A one-way code made from your network address. It limits abuse from a single network. We never store your IP address itself.
- Your country, from your connection, so we can read prices correctly (a plain “120” means New Taiwan dollars in Taiwan and baht in Thailand).
- Your email address, only if you sign in. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your email address and name; we keep the email and don’t use the name.
- Messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
- If you run a restaurant: the restaurant details you enter, and the contact details and message you give us when you claim a listing, so we can check it’s really yours.
- Your location, only when you tap “I’m here” to find a restaurant. It’s used for that one search and not stored. If you add a restaurant that isn’t on Google Maps, its pin is where you were standing.
- A language vote, if you ask us to add a language: the language and your device code, so each device counts once.
We don’t ask for your name, phone number, or payment details. Before your photo is uploaded, your phone or browser strips its hidden details, including GPS location. Please don’t photograph people; if someone ends up in a photo, we don’t try to identify them.
How long we keep it
- Photos from translations you don’t share: deleted after 30 days.
- The record of a translation you don’t share (the full menu text, linked to your device or account): deleted after 30 days.
- Dish names and their translations (for example “滷蛋: Braised egg”): kept in a dish dictionary with nothing that links them to you, your device, or where you were. Menus are public information; this helps us translate the same dish consistently and faster.
- Shared links: kept until the link expires after 30 days, then deleted.
- Photos of a menu you add to MenuJet (“Add to MenuJet”): kept while our team checks it, then for as long as that menu is published, as a record of where it came from. If we reject it, the photos are deleted straight away.
- Photos rejected as spam: deleted, with a one-way fingerprint kept up to 180 days so the same file can’t be sent again.
- Your sign-in email: until you delete your account (Delete my account, on your account page or at menujet.com/account/delete) or ask us to. If you add menus to MenuJet, we use it to tell you when one goes live and, once a month, how many travelers your menus helped. One click in any of those emails (or the switch on “Your contributions”) stops them.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months.
- Restaurant claim details: while we check the claim and manage the listing, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Language votes: while we count them to decide which languages to add next.
- A cost record for each AI request (which model, how much, what it cost; no photos or text), for our accounts.
Cookies and analytics
mj_did(needed): the device code for your free menus. 1 year.- Sign-in cookies (needed, only if you sign in): keep you signed in.
- Kept on your phone, not sent to us: your last 5 translations and menu pages you opened, so they open without a signal. Clear them in your browser settings at any time.
- Your in-progress translation, stored only in your browser, so a refresh doesn’t lose it.
- Cloudflare Turnstile may set a security cookie when it checks for bots.
- Analytics, only if you choose “Accept analytics”: Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) and PostHog. They tell us which pages help and where people get stuck, not who you are. Details below.
- Simple counts, no cookies. When a restaurant’s menu page opens, we count one view: which menu, which language, and whether it came from a printed QR code (sticker, table card, or printed menu). We also count when the “show staff” screen or “play it out loud” is used. These counts hold nothing about you (no cookie, no IP address, no account), help restaurants see that their English menu is used, and are deleted after 13 months.
Google Analytics
If you choose “Accept analytics”, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to understand and improve how people use MenuJet. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city or country, worked out from your internet address, which Google Analytics does not store). We never send Google your name, your email, or your photos, and Google’s advertising features are turned off for MenuJet.
To learn how Google collects and processes this information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
PostHog
If you choose “Accept analytics”, PostHog also records anonymous replays of how pages are used (taps, scrolls, screens), with everything you type hidden. We never send it your email or name.
Your choices about analytics
- Analytics stay off until you choose “Accept analytics”. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; choosing “Necessary only” removes the analytics cookies.
- You can also block Google Analytics on every website with Google’s Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it, MenuJet treats it as “Necessary only” and doesn’t load any analytics.
Privacy rights in the United States
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising: MenuJet shows no ads, and our analytics run with advertising features turned off. Some US state laws (for example in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and Virginia) give you the right to opt out of such practices; you can always choose “Necessary only” in Cookie settings or turn on Global Privacy Control, and we will honor it. For other requests about your information, see “Your choices and rights” below.
Visitors from the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland
We use analytics only with your prior consent, and no analytics cookies are placed before you choose “Accept analytics”. You can withdraw your consent at any time with Cookie settings; withdrawing doesn’t affect anything done before.
Sharing your information
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. We don’t use your photos to train AI, and the AI services we use don’t keep them or train on them either. A few trusted service providers run MenuJet for us and only handle your information to do that:
- Hosting, database, photo storage, and sign-in: Japan and the United States.
- AI services that read and translate menus, and that we test new AI models with: United States.
- Analytics and anonymous screen replays, only if you choose “Accept analytics”: United States.
- Maps and places search (finding a restaurant by name or with “I’m here”): United States.
- Email delivery, bot protection, and “Continue with Google” (only if you use it).
Want to know exactly which companies these are? Just ask us.
This means your information may be processed outside Taiwan, mainly in Japan and the United States.
Your choices and rights
Under Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, show it to you, give you a copy, correct it, stop using it, or delete it. The same goes wherever you live. Just use the contact form, and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also delete your account yourself at any time with Delete my account. You can also ask us to take down a shared link early.
Without a photo we can’t translate a menu. Without signing in you can still translate 2 menus; after that, signing in (free) with Google or an email address lets you continue.
Keeping it safe
Photos are stored privately and are never public unless you share the result. We use reasonable measures to protect what we keep, and we keep as little as we can on purpose. No website can promise perfect security.
Children
MenuJet is for a general audience. If you’re under 18, please use it with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the date above. Big changes will be noted on the site.
